1. Things to remember
a) Wait for the script
The torch race is run by HW script. The script sometimes take a few second to come up depending on your connection. Be sure to stand still till it starts up when stepping on the squares like starting line, missions (see below) and finishing line, which you think should contain the action scripts for the race.
b) Be sure to WALK, not RUN
Remember, although it is a race and you're a runner, RUNning through the course won't make you a winner. You need to be in WALK mode to activate the scripts that are essential to the race.
c) Read the rules
You must be familiar witht he rules (this document) to win the race.
d) Judge's word is final.
Your runner's record is everything. If it says you didn't finish the race, you didn't finish the race. No arguement. Just be sure to listen to the last word the script tells you.
2. Course
As shown below, the course is pretty simple.
3. How to join the race
Simply show up at the starting line at Athenai S2,W12 about 10 minutes before the start, 22:00. All the runners must step on the starting line to start the race. Make sure to step on the white bar (circled below) when the race is on. The popup comes up and you are ready to roll.
WARNING! : The misssions (see below) will never come up if you fails to step on the starting line. Make very sure you get it before rushing to the goal.

4. Ready-Set-Go
A judge will come up and start the race. The start is announced in StreetChat. Be careful, two false starts and you're out.
5. Missions
Each block in the course has a mission square that tells you what to do to next. The simplest mission is to hit the white square in the next block but it could be a quiz, it could be a search for particular item, it could be anything. To learn the mission, be sure to step on the white square in each block of the course everytime you enter a new block as you race. When you step on it, a pop up window shows up and tells you what to do. Follow the instruction.
WARNING! : You can only learn the missions in the right turn. You can't skip a mission to be qualified winner.

6. Goal
Finishing line is marked with a brown line (circled below). To finish the race, make sure to step on the brown line. Stand there till the script checks your record and tells you your rank. When all the runners finished the race we'll check the runners' record and announce the winner. The script could issue two winners. In that case we check the script to find exactly when each winner was announced by second. If it's in the same second, we'll have a tie break.
WARNING!! : You MUST step on the brown finish line to be qualified winner.

7. Decent Q&A

Q: Am I out if I switch to RUN mode during the race? Even accidentally? Come on? |

A: You can RUN during the race If you want. It doesn't affect your runner's record. But be sure to step on the mission square in WALK mode. |

Q: Can I jump during the race? |

A: Yes, sir, the bottom line is to get all the missions done. HOW you get it, that remains unquestioned. |

Q: How do I know if I win or lose? |

A: When you cross the finishing line after doing all the required mission in the race, you're told your rank. You don't have to claim your rank, as we know from the record. |

Q: What if the missions never come up? |

A: What kind of question is that? I see you're nervous. Well, chances are that you skipped a mission without knowing it. Go back till you find the right mission. |
8. Cheat Q&A

Q: Are you stupid or somethin? I will jump to N0 W0 and win the day with hands down. |

A: Nice try. But please be advised you will be tracked down by the script. Each time a runner finish a mission it's recorded to the runner's log. You can't just skip all the missions to claim your prize. |

Q: I can always claim I was first. No one can actually see me in real time. Am I smart or what. |

A: The script will watch and record your finishing time by second. If two or more runners finish the race at the very same second we'll have a tie break. |
