HISTORYWALKERS EQUIPPED WITH BRUSHES, SMOCKS AND MICE

By TheaDidius

HistoryWalkers armed themselves with brushes and paint smocks in time for Opet to design their way into two Opet-themed competitions! The first of these was the first member-created art exhibition, and the second was the Opet Avatar Contest.

THE OPET ART EXHIBITION

The first member-created art exhibition: the Opet Art Exhibition

With their frames in mind, participants artistically portrayed the Opet theme that was set, and barques, offerings and the Opet Pharaoh providing inspiration.

Clockwise from top left: Tobias' 'Opet Barge' and 'Unofficial Portrait of the Pharaoh', Nitetis' 'Offering to Amun', and Epistate's 'Sailing to Opet'.

Tobias started the creativity with 'Opet Barge', accompanied by merry drunken singing and unintential accidents with intended effects providing the inspiration behind this depiction of the Opet Barge. Tobias' second entry was an unofficial self-portrait (the editor is still trying to decide if a self-portrait can be unofficial!) reflecting on his gittery nerves of the then up-and-coming Opet festival and his own role as Pharaoh!

Epistate continued the boating theme with 'Sailing to Opet', using an image from an old archaeological book as her inspiration.

It was Nitetis' entry that, according to a vote open to all HistoryWalkers, was deemed the winner of the competition! Nitetis thought of the offerings that were made to Amun during Opet, and depicted the Pharaoh making these offerings.

OPET AVATAR CONTEST

The second Opet-themed competition this year was the Opet Avatar Contest. The competition was judged by travellers Plinianguy and Renifer!

First to enter the competition was Epistate, soon followed by Tobias and Alexandria, as they donned their Opet clothes for the BB. Judges Plinianguy and Renifer conferred at the Opet Procession on the winner of the competition, and decided on Epistate!

"I'm thrilled... now I'm gonna go award myself a prize! Opet beer sounds like a good one..." Epistate decided upon winning the competition, which was followed by some speculation afterwards as to how much beer she had to celebrate with - Epistate maintains that she can't remember, as she was seen finding the nearest couch...
