FEATURED LOCATION: MACHU PICCHU PARK AND MOUNTAIN QUEST

Machu Picchu Park and the Mountain Quest

The Machu Picchu Mountain Quest and Park officially opened on the 9th of December 2001, with a timetrial event in the Quest maze, and followed by a party in the neighbouring park!

So what is the aim of the Mountain Quest? To find all twelve hidden flags in the fastest possible time. At its opening, Flora somehow managed to find ten of the flags in twenty minutes, which was far and beyond the seven that Lys estimated could be found in that time! But it was Panainos who was the first to find all twelve flags, three days after the opening, and became the first Master Ranger. Check out these photos from the opening event!

Since then, many HistoryWalkers have braved the Quest and become Master Rangers, but it has proven the bane of many. Tobias found all the flags in Febuary 2003, followed closely by Flora two days later. After winning the opening event in 2001, Flora may have jinxed herself, saying that "I've been racing round and round the mountain, but I'm never going to find those last two flags!" For the record, a certain editor still hasn't found them all! So, if you want to play a game in HistoryWalker that will provide years of frustration entertainment, the Mountain Quest is for you!

In the Park, designed by Verona, is the home of the Machu Picchu Music Shop, where you can part with your IncaGold to buy a Quena, a Wankara, a Siku or a Bombo. Just what are these things? You will have to go find out for yourself! While you are there, feed the llama and find all its friends, and puzzle, as many have done, on just how to reach that bottle of Quicha in the middle of the pond!

The entrance to the Mountain Quest can be found at Mac N11 W3 and the entrance to the Park is at Mac N13 W9.
