History

Each of long jump, discus throw and wrestling was played as one of the pentathlon, together with footrace and javelin throw. These games were generally accompanied by flute players, probably because they threw and jumped together with the rhythm.

Different from modern jump, they generally used halteres/jumping-weights, made of stone or metal. He swings up the weights when he jumps then swings down the weights before the landing. He has to land with his legs. If he loses the balance, the jump is foul.

The discus used for the game is generally made of metal and almost the same as that of modern game. The thrower is represented by Myron, master sculptor of the Classical period. Although it is unclear how the discus was thrown, he probably didn't turn but threw it with swinging his arm.

Wrestling was, of course, Greco-Roman style. The wrestler can attack only against the upper body of the oppornent. They strove to throw each other while standing in an upright position. If the oppornent was thrown three times in the same contest, he had to declare himself beaten.

You can throw the discus without turning yourself, but you can throw further if you turn. Turning more can bring better result but the danger that your throw becomes faul will be increased. You can throw the discus twice. Once you have finished, open Activities Log and copy the better result to the thread, "Triathlon 2003".

It's up to you to use halteres, which will help you to jump further while good landing will be more difficult. You can choose the starting point from three places. If the approach run is longer, you can jump further, but again it makes more difficult to land without to be a faul. Once you choose the starting point, please rush to the takeoff and jump! You can jump three times. Once you have finished, open Activities Log and copy the better result to the thread, "Triathlon 2003".

Important!: You are allowed to play only once (three jumps). If you try to be re-initialized and jump again, you'll be disqualified.

Day 3 (23:00 GMT, 31st July) - Wrestling

The game proceeds in order to the tournament. If your turn comes, you or your oppornent starts the game by standing by a blue flag. You can only throw, tackle or defend from the attacks. The player who wins 3 points first will be the winner.
