Torch Race Rules
Your mission is to race from Athenai N9 W5 to Athenai N2 W0 as fast as possible. But wait, it's not that easy. Each block in the course has a check point (white square) where you need to stop. The scripts at those check points will tell you what to do. Sometimes it gives you quizzes, asks you to find something, you know, usual HW race! You can't skip a check point to finish faster. If you do, you'll end up losing precious time.
The finishing point is the brown square with a blue flag at the ruin of the original Parthenon, Athenai N2 W0. To finish the race, make sure to step on the square and stand there till the script announces your goal.
Why is it called "Torch Race"? Because you'll be carrying a torch, why else?? Though you won't actually see it on the map, your torch needs fuel, Attic olive oil, to keep burning. If you spend too much time answering quizzes etc., it eventually goes out. If it does, you need to go back all the way to the starting point to fuel your torch. Throughout the course, popup images will show you the status of your torch.
Racing Tips
Wait for the script. The race is run by HW script. The script sometimes takes a few seconds to come up depending on your connection and CPU power. Be sure to stand still till it starts up when stepping on obviously special squares like the starting line, check points and the finishing line.
WALK or RUN? Running through the course won't make you a winner. You need to be in WALK mode to activate the scripts that are essential to the race. But you can still run from one check point to another, if you like. Just be sure not to skip any check point.
Award
All runners will receive a certificate with their record. The runner with the best score (recorded in the activity log) after Panathenaia week will receive the gorgeous award shown below.

The race track will be open during the entire week (July 27 - Aug 3). You can try it again and again to improve your record. Good luck!
